The Morgan +8 engines were based on the design of the US GM 215 engine used by Rover with a capacity of 3500 cc.
The first +8's were fueled by twin SU HS6 carburettors.
In 1976 an improved version of the engine was introduces as used in the Rover SD1, this used two Stromberg carburettors.
Later models used:
From 1983, EFI, a Bosch L-Jetronic based system.
From 1990, Hitachi Hotwire injection system as used in the Range Rover with an engine expanded to 3.9 litres.
From 2000, a GEMS system was used as found on the Land Rover Discovery II.
